Our kitchen serves a variety of styles of cuisine, European, American, Indian, Chinese and Fijian. You can expect a variety of meat and vegetables. In a weeks visit you can expect beef, fish, shellfish, pork, chicken, and veal to be served. Many times you will have a choice of meats. We also serve imported and local vegetables. A large selection of Australian wines and Champagnes are available to accompany your meal.

The traditional Fijian Lali drum announces the meal service in case you are too relaxed or too busy to notice. Soon you will become accustomed to timing your meals, not to a watch, but to the beat of a drum.

All your meals are served from our Dining Bure with the exception of picnics, BBQ's and our romantic dinners and lunches for two. As there is no other restaurant or cooking facility on the island, we have a compulsory meal plan which will provide 3 daily meals and some snacks.

Buffet meals are occasionally served and may include a Fijian night, curry night, a pizza lunch or a sandwich and salad lunch bar. We alternate buffet service with table service and offer a choice of entrees at those meals.

Matangi can handle special dietary needs. Please notify us in advance of your arrival if you require a special diet.

Children's Meals: Children under the age of 14 have their supper/evening meals prior to the adult meal service. Special meals can be catered for if you advise us in advance.

Complimentary afternoon tea is served in the Dining Room between 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Happy hour is between 6:00 p.m. and dinner daily. Come along and try some of John's famous cocktails!

Our local string band will sing for you some evenings around the Kava bowl. Join them and try some Kava! There will also be traditional dancing called a "meke" from local villagers at least once a week.
